LANSING – Macomb County State Representatives today were appointed to the House Committees on which they will serve for the 95th Legislature in Lansing.
State Representative Sarah Roberts (D-St. Clair Shores) was named Vice Chair of the Military and Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security Committee, and also will serve on the Great Lakes and Environment Committee; Education Committee; and the Energy and Technology Committee.
"It is an honor to be appointed to committees that are so important to the people of Michigan," Roberts said. "My top priority is creating good-paying jobs while protecting our Great Lakes. My committee assignments will allow me to focus on creating an educated workforce, rebuilding our economy by creating new green-collar jobs, protecting our environment and fighting for those who have served our country. I look forward to working with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to accomplish this."
State Representative Jon Switalski (D-Warren) was named to the House Appropriations Committee.
"Times are tough here in Michigan and it's time we invest in our hard-working families," Switalski said. "I will work hard to make smart, positive changes that will create jobs for our workers, bolster our economy and move Michigan forward."
State Representative Jennifer Haase (D-Richmond) was named Vice Chair of the Committee on Ethics and Elections, and will serve on the Commerce Committee; Education Committee; and the Agriculture Committee.
"As a longtime teacher, I understand the importance of a high-quality education," Haase said. "One of the best ways to move Michigan forward and get our state's economy back on track is by creating the best-educated workforce possible. As a newcomer to Lansing, I'm excited about being a leader in helping reform our Legislature so that it truly puts our working families first."
State Representative Fred Miller (D-Mount Clemens) was named to the House Appropriations Committee.
State Representative Harold Haugh (D-Roseville) will serve as Vice Chair of the House Regulatory Reform Committee and also will serve on the Commerce Committee; Intergovernmental and Regional Affairs Committee; and the Transportation Committee.
