WARREN – State Representative Fred Miller (D-Mount Clemens), Chair of the House Appropriations Community College Subcommittee, is inviting residents to attend a hearing of the subcommittee on Friday at Macomb Community College to hear about issues impacting community colleges, as well as to voice their opinions and concerns.
"Educating our workforce is key to rebuilding our economy," Miller said. "Community colleges are a vital part of the equation because they will help our displaced workers and residents receive the training and education they need to work in new, high-demand jobs. By taking our committee hearings around the state we will be able to better hear the valuable opinions of residents and students."
The House Appropriations Community College Subcommittee hearing will take place on Friday, March 6, at 10 a.m. at MacombCommunity College in room K-301, South Campus, 14500 E. 12 Mile Road in Warren.
Miller, a chief architect of the Hire Michigan First job-creation plan, has made it his priority to create good-paying jobs for workers and to ensure that Michigan has a highly-trained workforce to compete for jobs in high-demand fields, like renewable energy and life sciences.
"Michigan is at a crossroad and we have the opportunity right now to revitalize our state," Miller said. "Community colleges are a great way for our hard-working residents to get the education they need to make a new start. I urge residents to attend this hearing on Friday and voice their ideas and concerns."
