LANSING – State Representative Fred Miller (D-Mount Clemens) today introduced resolutions allowing MacombCommunity College to begin construction on a 30,000-square-foot addition to the school's FireTrainingCenter and a 35,000-square-foot instructional facility for the Health Sciences Department.
The resolutions, which have bipartisan support, would allow MacombCommunity College to move ahead with a planned $8.7 million addition to the FireTrainingCenter and a $12 million Health Science and TechnologyClassroomBuilding project. The college would provide half of the project costs, with the state offering matching funds for the other 50 percent.
"MacombCommunity College is one of the jewels of our community," Miller said. "I am proud to offer these resolutions that enable the school to strengthen its training programs and extend its reach. These important projects will ensure that the college remains on the cutting edge of high-demand sectors such as health care. By investing in the people of Michigan, we will create the good-paying jobs that will help turn our economy around."
The resolutions are now headed for the House Appropriations Committee.
